About Me

Hi, my name is Holger Haase and I am a native German tutor based in Cork, Ireland.

I first visited Ireland more than 25 years ago and have actually lived and worked here since 1995. Some say that in that time I may have become more Irish than the Irish.

I  teach students of all levels (A1-C2) privately one-on-one or in small group sessions, provide exam and essay help for UCC students or help your child to pass the Junior or Leaving Cert. General conversation classes available as well as assistance with Business German all in the comfort of your own homes in or around Cork City. Online lessons through Skype can also be arranged. Lessons can be arranged here.

I also accept translations and for 2014 would like to focus especially on helping the Irish travel industry attract more German tourists. I am especially interested in providing translations for B&B websites or for brochures and hand-outs.

On this website I would like to provide tips and tricks on how best to learn the German language. So check back regularly and contact me if there are particular areas you would like me to focus on.

Please also visit my FACEBOOK page where I am regularly posting shorter tips, tricks and interesting links.

If there are any particular areas you would like me to cover, please just let me know.

  1. Well done on a great blog. I came across it while looking for a german grinds teacher for my sons. However, we live in Dublin not Cork so unfortunately can’t avail of your classes. But if you know of any good grinds teachers in Dublin would love to hear about them.

I speak german myself, having lived in Hamburg for 3 years and I was interested to read your false friends and how easily you make learning german. It is so important to get the basics right! Sadly my sons don’t want me tutoring them but they are struggling to get to grips with German, which when well taught is not so difficult and very enjoyable. Once you learn a language you have it forever so it is well worth the effort!

    • Thank you very much for your kind comments. They reminded me that I need to get a move on with the False Friends project that has totally fallen by the wayside as I am currently busier than ever. Pity you’re not based in Cork. Would love to helped you and your sons along. Good luck and enjoy the studies!

    • Hi There,
